When it comes time to sell you might feel yourself being pulled in a million directions. There is no question that there is a lot to do just to prepare it for the market. One thing you will want to do is stage your home for upcoming open houses. You need to prepare yourself for when the realtor has an interested buyer that they want to bring by.
Home Staging Tips
If you aren’t going to be living in your home during this process you will have an easier task ahead. You can still stage your home if you must remain living in it during the sale process though.
The key is to start by decluttering. You’ll want to take out all of your personalized decorating such as family photos. If you have not decorated in a neutral theme you will want to change things over to that. Remove any loud and expressive decorations and consider painting any rooms that might be extreme colors. If you have furniture that is outdated, but is important such as family heirlooms consider moving them out of the house ahead of time.
A storage unit is the perfect place to place items that you’ll want to keep, but might be in the way during this process. You can rent a unit that is just big enough for the items you need out of the way temporarily, then when it comes time to close on your current house you can easily transfer to a larger unit that will fit all of your household items until your new home is ready for you to move in to. This will save you money in the long run!
If you are scared that you don’t have the eye for doing this on your own or if you simply don’t have the time, don’t worry! There are professionals that can come in and do this for you. A lot of times they have their own furniture and decorations that they will temporarily move in for you and then remove once the house has sold. In the Surprise area we have several companies that do just this type of thing. Check out Wild About Staging and Home Décor, Stage Me Fancy, and Savvy Staging AZ.
