What To Do Here

LMIf you love the outdoors, Scripps Ranch is a perfect place to call home. Lake Miramar, a damn/reservoir, owned and operated by the City of San Diego was completed in 1960 as part of San Diego’s second Aqueduct Project. The water flowing into Lake Miramar comes from The Colorado River Aqueduct and The San Diego Aqueduct. At full capacity the lake has 162 surface acres, max water depth of 114 feet, 4 miles of shoreline, and a water storage capacity of 6,682 acre feet. Lake Miramar has a, 4.92 mile long, paved service road surrounding the entire lake making it the perfect place to ride bikes, skateboard, rollerblade, jog, and walk. Vehicles are also allowed on the Service Road Saturday through Tuesday, making access to one of their 18 charcoal grills and 48 picnic tables very easy to have your family picnic at the lake. Just off the paved service road you can find 11 miles of, fun, off road mountain bike trails ranging from easy to challenging.

If you like fishing, Lake Miramar is stocked with Florida-Strain Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Channel Catfish, and Sunfish. Along with fishing from the shoreline you can fish off of one of the three docks in the water, from a motor boat, and floating devices. You are required to have a California State Fishing license to fish at Lake Miramar if you are 16 or older, and you are allowed to keep the fish you catch. There is a size restriction and number limit to the fish you keep.

If you like Italian food you can check out Filippi’s Pizza grotto. Filippi’s is a family oriented, Italian, restaurant located in the shopping center across the street from Storage West Scripps Ranch.  Another local favorite located in the same shopping center is Bruski Burger’s and Brew.  At Bruski’s you can catch a game on one of their big screens or grab lunch on the weekends.
