Rancho Cucamonga is a Top Destination for Families and Businesses in SoCal
At the base of the towering San Gabriel Mountains is Rancho Cucamonga — a Southern California city of more than 177,000 people, 35 miles from Los Angeles. Close to Highway 210 and Interstate 10, as well as Ontario International Airport, Rancho Cucamonga is a desirable location for entrepreneurs and businesses. In fact, prominent companies like Coca-Cola and Frito Lay have established facilities here. The city’s largest employers include Inland Empire Health Plan, the Etiwanda School District and Chaffey Community College.
The Indigenous Tongva people moved into the area that is now considered Rancho Cucamonga in 1200 AD. The Spanish colonized the area (Rancho Cucamonga was included in the widespread Mission system) and eventually passed it to Mexican governor Juan Baptista Alvarado. After that, John Rains and his wife established the modern city in 1858. Today, you can visit the John Rains Historical House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, to learn interesting facts about the city’s history. For example, did you know the area was the state’s top wine-producing region during the 19th century?
Rancho Cucamonga has also earned a reputation for its high-performing school districts, family-friendly neighborhoods and vibrant local community. Moreover, there is plenty of year-round activity, including outdoor recreation and cultural events.
Major landmarks include the popular Victory Gardens shopping plaza, the Loanmart Field — home to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes minor league baseball team — and the North Etiwanda Nature Preserve. Publications like Insiderand Money Magazines have included Rancho Cucamonga on lists of top places to live.
