Storage West’s Rancho Bernardo facility is a premium storage destination 20 miles from San Diego’s city center and in the heart of San Diego County’s inland region. We’re conveniently close to Interstate 15 and State Route 65, as well as nearby communities Escondido and Poway.

Master-Planned Rancho Bernardo Offers Opportunity and Exceptional Quality of Life

An expansive, master-planned community in northeast San Diego County, Rancho Bernardo is a renowned place to live, work and retire. There are several neighborhoods within the Rancho Bernardo community, including Bernardo Heights (which has its own country club) and multiple senior living communities. These neighborhoods offer amenities for golden years that almost feel like a vacation — crystal-clear pools, top-notch fitness centers and regular entertainment. Whatever phase of life you’re in, though, you’ll find tight-knit communities, year-round events and plentiful business opportunities.

Rancho Bernardo is home to the fifth-largest office space submarket in San Diego County, with six million square feet of office space. Sony Electronics is headquartered here, alongside other major companies including Broadcom, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman and Amazon. Across 685 acres, the business park attracts more than 50,000 workers. You don’t have to be a giant corporation to find success in Rancho Bernardo — the Rancho Bernardo Business Association hosts networking events for locally owned businesses.

Families appreciate Rancho Bernardo’s friendly, safe atmosphere. There are several award-winning public schools within the vicinity and most students are part of the Poway Unified School District. Many locals pursue higher education at Palomar College’s nearby campus. Palomar College offers one of the most comprehensive athletic programs in California, with an average of 450 student athletes per year.

Like much of the region, Rancho Bernardo enjoys a pleasant, Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters. Several wineries dot the hillsides, including Bernardo Winery, which is the oldest in the area. With only 15 miles to the coast, you don’t have to choose between the mountains and the beach.

Things to Do Near Rancho Bernardo

In Rancho Bernardo, nearly everything you need is within a short drive. Two shopping plazas mark the community’s downtown area. They’re an ideal stop along the 15, whether for a bite to eat at Urge American Gastropub or Rancho Viejo Mexican Food. You might even decide to swing by Webb Lake along the way to enjoy the small park with grass, benches and a peaceful pond. Out on the town with your favorite canine friend? Let them run around at the Rancho Bernardo Dog Park, only a couple minutes north.

Also centrally located in Rancho Bernardo is the high-qualityOaks North Golf Course, which is a professional-grade course with 27 holes, a driving range and a snack bar. Attracting golfers from across the county, it’s a premier destination to tee up —after all, when it comes to a day on the course, Southern California’s dreamy weather is hard to beat.

On a free Friday morning, head over to the Rancho Bernardo Farmer’s Market, hosted at the historic and family-ownedBernardo Winery (originally opened in 1889). You can shop for local produce, artisan goods and handmade items, and we highly recommend supplementing your market haul with a bottle of locally made wine. Fun fact: During Prohibition, Bernardo Winery diversified into olive oil and grape juice. That’s what we call an adaptable business!

If you feel like you need to escape the city, head out to the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, which is truly as magical as it sounds. Sitting on the Escondido Creek watershed, the Reserve includes 11 miles of hiking and equestrian trails that wind through delicate riparian habitats, oak groves, coastal shrub and chapparal. There are also several overlooks to view the Pacific Ocean. On a clear day, you may be able to make out the Channel Islands.

Rancho Bernardo keeps the community spirit alive with the annual RB Alive! Street Fair, which takes place in June on Bernardo Center Drive. This family-friendly event offers something for everyone, including food vendors, more than 300 booths featuring arts and crafts and a Kids Zone with activities and games to fill an entire day.

I have had a storage unit here for almost 13 years and recently received assist from John in getting elect/water for use in a cleaning project. John went above and beyond in his effort to facilitate my work. Just one more reason why I would recommend this facility.

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for Stephen at the Rancho Bernardo facility. He helped me figure out the best storage situation for my items and I was thrilled to be able to use the moving truck to get it all in at one time. This is my least favorite thing to do so I appreciate the positive experience.

This is the first time I had my personal belongings stored. I chose storage west because it is just one block away from our community. I never realized that having storage west would give me a very good experience. John and Kathy treated me like family. They are helpful and attends to my needs. I would highly recommend this facility and will use its services anytime I need it.
