A Master-Planned Community Tucked Between the Mountains and Ocean

Located in sunny Orange County, Mission Viejo is one of the nation’s most impressive master-planned communities. Urban planner Donald Bren designed the city, centering it on sparkling Lake Mission Viejo. He is also known for designing developments in Tempe, Arizona, and Denver, Colorado. Mission Viejo is characterized by its hilly landscape, plentiful parks, classic Spanish Mission-style architecture and scenic natural beauty. With shaded, leafy residential streets, it’s considered a “Tree City” by the National Arbor Day foundation.
Mission Hospital is among the largest healthcare facilities in Orange County and serves as the regional trauma center. The hospital is the city’s biggest employer. Other prominent employers include Saddleback College — a public community college with 190 programs — and the Capistrano Unified School District.
Golfers appreciate the city’s three expansive courses: Mission Viejo Country Club, Casta del Sol Golf Course and the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course. Beyond golf, there are numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation, including parks and playgrounds, trails and sports fields. Residents also enjoy swimming, boating and paddle boarding at Lake Mission Viejo. An active community, the city hosts annual 5K runs and triathlons throughout the year.
Mission Viejo is close to many Southern California destinations, including picturesque Laguna Beach, Crystal Cove State Park and Dana Point. It’s about 50 miles from Los Angeles and 75 from San Diego. An hour’s drive inland brings you to Lake Elsinore, a popular location for viewing vibrant wildflowers blanketing the hillsides in the spring – an event known as “super blooms.” Find Mission Viejo off California’s Interstate 5 or along State Route 241.

Things to Do in Mission Viejo, CA

Mission Viejo enjoys a year-round Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hotter summers. Certain types of wine grapes thrive in this dry, sunny environment. Napa isn’t the only place to find California-made wine — the state’s southern counties have experienced a wine making revival. Sip on some of the best wine, made from “grape to glass” in Orange County, at the Giracci Vineyards and Farms. It’s only a 25-minute drive from our facility in Mission Viejo. Set amid ancient oak trees and a horse ranch, the breathtaking estate vineyard offers you the opportunity to take a tour and taste a hand-picked selection of Italian varietals.
Discover shopping, entertainment and interesting dining opportunities at Union Market Mission Viejo, within the Kaleidoscope Mall. Visitors can try handcrafted boba tea and decadent churro desserts at Locca, or delicious Mexican food at Sol Agave, which started out as a food truck in 2015. When you’re done eating, browse the market’s boutiques for one-of-a-kind homewares, clothing and more.
Right next door to the mall, whole families find fun and excitement at Mission Viejo’s Laser Quest, a multi-level laser tag arena. The facility boasts special lighting, swirling fog effects and upbeat music for an adrenaline-packed experience. Did you know one mission at laser quest burns approximately 100 calories? So, it’s not just fun, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to get your daily exercise.
Make like a Mission Viejo local and spend a weekend outdoors. Take a stroll along the Oso Creek Trail, through verdant meadows and oak trees, or head over to Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park. This park offers 2,500 acres of riparian habitats, rolling grasslands and the beautiful Red Rock Canyon. 90% of the park burned in a 2007 wildfire, but visitors can witness the land’s gradual recovery and new growth — a true example of nature’s incredible resiliency.
Mission Viejo is a growing, exciting place to call home or do business. If you’re moving to this Orange County city, we can help you find appropriate storage to make a headache-free transition.

I’ve used quite a few storage facilities in the last. None of them compare to this storagewest location. Made it very easy to get started even during this crazy pandemic. Very very clean facility. Very easy to access my second floor unit. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a place to store there goods. Great experience all around

Sue was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She helped us reserve our storage space 2 months out and called to remind us when the time approached to start our rental. She was very responsive to emails and phone calls. I felt taken care of every step of the way. Excellent customer service! Highly recommended!

Not only was Sue at Storage West helpful with my move into their facility (with a 1/2 price for 2 months move-in special off an already better price than I found elsewhere!!!) but she gave me some free boxes and tape, a discount on other moving supplies I needed (and no pressure to buy anything... I asked how much the things I needed cost as I’d price compared elsewhere. The prices she quoted were comparable and she gave me a discount on top of the price as a move in special). And, even more amazing, Sue blessed me HUGE when I told her I was really struggling with this move as even though I’d hired movers for moving day, I had just suffered a herniated disc and I’m a single mom so I don’t have anyone to help me pack and move boxes down the 3 flights of stairs (no elevator at my old apartment) which was so painful bending to pack and really painful carrying weight down the stairs so was progressing very slow and painful!!! She shared that others had gotten help from a man who had helped other people move and she heard he was good and affordable and gave me his number. His name is Geronimo and he was my angel!!! He helped move boxes downstairs and even pack, saving me money I didn’t have to pay the movers to do on moving day. Geronimo was very affordable and pleasant to work with. I’m truly so blessed to have chosen Storage West!!!
