When you’re choosing a new neighborhood to move in to, you have to take in every single detail. You also need to ask a ton of questions. Getting to know the area, roads, stores, amenities, and even the people can take time. The move itself can take a lot of time too. You’ve got to get everything moved over, then unpack, get everything hooked up, and then get settled in. Let us remove some of the guess work when choosing where to move. 1. The Parks
In the area of Storage West on Eastern Ave, there are several parks to visit. These parks give you plenty of reason to get out and enjoy some fresh air. Sunset Park is the largest park in the area. It has 324 total acres. Included are several picnic areas, 11 baseball fields, 8 basketball courts, and 5 playgrounds. There are also several miles of walking and hiking paths, a fitness course, and a splash pad. Oh, and did we mention it also has a disc golf course, 7 sand volleyball courts, and 8 tennis courts! Sunset Park also has a fishing pond that is fully stocked with small fish. This easily makes a great day for the kids.
At the southern end of Sunset Park is a dog park. This is an on-leash only park, and is open to all dog breeds. About a block away from Storage West on Eastern is Green Valley Park. This is a 4 acre park with a couple of baseball fields, a barbecue area, and a basketball court. They also have a covered picnic shelter, open grass area, picnic tables, and a great playground. Other parks in the area include Desert Bloom Park, Duck Creek Park, and Pecos Legacy Park; each of them being a great way to get out and enjoy our Las Vegas weather.
2. The Golf
Within a few miles of Storage West on Eastern Ave are two incredible golf courses. These should be playable for every type of golfer. Wildhorse Golf Course is located right down the road from Storage West on Eastern Ave. They offer multiple golf packages, a practice facility, and a golf academy. They also have a restaurant and bar, and amenities to house special events and occasions. The course is 6,525 yards from the longest tees, with a par score of 70. They offer challenging holes with an incredible view of the mountains from everywhere on the golf course. Wildhorse has a ton of history in Las Vegas. The course was once owned by Howard Hughes and was a former PGA Tour stop. The “Sahara Invitational” was regularly hosted there back in the early 1970’s.
The Legacy Golf Club is embedded in the Green Valley South neighborhood. They offer golf that is more suited for the more experienced player. The course is longer than other courses in the area. It has 7,233 yards from the longest tees with a par of 72. From tee to green, the course is more narrow because of how it lays geographically in the surrounding neighborhood; and each hole offers rocked cut-ins and hilly terrain to add to the challenge of this course. Legacy Golf Club also offers a great casual restaurant, The Grill; which has a bar and patio area. They also have the ability to offer venues for corporate functions, meetings, or other types of gatherings.
3. The Strip
Storage West on Eastern is 5 miles from the historic Las Vegas sign. We consider that the start of the infamous Las Vegas Strip. Whether you are heading out to play tourist or tour guide for friends or family; a stop at the Las Vegas sign is the best place to start. Then heading North on Las Vegas Boulevard starts the incredible sights of the Las Vegas Strip, starting with Mandalay Bay, Luxor, and the Excalibur on one side of the Strip and the Tropicana and MGM Grand on the other. It’s a 6 mile stretch of road from the Las Vegas sign to the Stratosphere, essentially the end of what is referred to as the Strip, but just past the Stratosphere is the infamous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop from TV, and then Downtown Las Vegas which is a great place to see as well. In the heart of the Strip is the Fountains of the Bellagio, made famous from Ocean’s 11, and you can’t forget about Caesar’s Palace which was featured in the Hangover. There is even a giant Ferris-wheel called the Linq, which gives one of the best views of the entire city of Las Vegas.
4. The Shopping
In either direction of Storage West on Eastern, you will find some of the best shopping in Las Vegas. A few miles to the West of us is the Las Vegas South Premium Outlets, a giant shopping mall with all kinds of stores to shop and at outlet store prices. The shopping doesn’t just happen in the mall, there is an outdoor shopping area near there as well that offers even more stores to choose from. There are all kinds of food places in the mall and outside in the parking lot that faces Las Vegas Boulevard that will keep you energized.
To the South of Storage West on Eastern is more of a “small business hometown feel” of stores to choose from, giving you a selection of stores that range from clothing retailers to hair and make-up shops, with some really great restaurants mixed into the area to give you awesome food to go along with your shopping.
To the East of Storage West on Eastern is the Galleria at Sunset Mall in Henderson; made up of 2 stories of stores, food, and entertainment. Large mainstays like Dillard’s, Macy’s, Kohl’s, and JC Penney’s, as well as boutique stores and name brand shopping locations are inside the Galleria. Surrounding the Galleria are tons more shopping stores; with 4 other shopping centers within half a mile from the Galleria itself. Easily the best area of town to do some hardcore shopping; the Galleria is where you will find anything you need for everyone in your family.
5. The Casinos
Casinos are synonymous with Las Vegas; and unlike what most people may think, they aren’t on every single corner. The Las Vegas Strip is only 5 miles away from our location; however, nearer to Storage West on Eastern Ave, we have a couple of the Casinos and Hotels that will still give you the luck and feel of Las Vegas. Casinos in Las Vegas are made to offer everything to their customers. Not only do these places have tables and slot machines, but they offer great food and entertainment as well.
The Silverton Casino is just West of Storage West on Eastern and offers all the best machines and tables, as well as 3 different restaurants and a buffet, and a full list of concerts and other venues to satisfy your need for entertainment. The casino is connected to the Bass Pro Shops store, which is heaven for any outdoorsman. The casino also has a massive saltwater aquarium, a full sports book, and bars and mingling areas to take in any big game.
Just south of the Silverton is South Point Casino. South Point goes beyond your typical casino by offering more than just gambling and a show. South Point has bowling, bingo, a movie theater, 5 different restaurants and a buffet, an arena for concerts and rodeos, a full list of comedians and music stars for shows, and an excellent pool and spa. There is fun for all ages, kids to adults, at the South Point.
Just to the East of Storage West on Eastern Ave is the Green Valley Ranch Casino. Here you will find a little more luxury than you would expect for an off-strip casino. Green Valley Ranch offers 7 different restaurants and a buffet, a salon and spa, concerts, a movie theater, a full sports book, bingo, and even an awesome place for the kids to play called Kid’s Quest. Any type of entertainment and dining you want, all a few minutes away.
6. The Food
One thing about Las Vegas is there are thousands of places to eat. Whether you are heading to the casinos, looking for a well-known restaurant like Chili’s, or looking for the smaller hard to find specialty food places; near Storage West on Eastern Ave, there is a wide variety of what you are hungry for.
Right down the road to the West we have Memphis Bar-B-Que. A little further West and there is Cracker Barrel, Outback Steakhouse, Chili’s, and Black Bear Diner. In this same area, a little less famous but just as good is Joe’s New York Pizza, the Bootlegger Italian Bistro, or even Blue Sea Sushi. South of us on Eastern Ave is a great selection of every type of food place you want. Crowd pleasers like In-N-Out burger, Chick-fil-A, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewery, and Red Robinare easy to find but Hot and Juicy Crawfish, Grimaldi’s, Rubio’s and Island Sushi are a little more rustic and still an excellent place for dinner. 7. The Grocery Stores
Staying with the topic of food, for those that enjoy a home cooked meal instead of fast food or the bustling restaurant scene, the selection of grocery stores and food markets in the area is incredible. Grocery store staples like Albertson’s and Von’s give you that big supermarket option without buying from the bulk seller stores like Sam’s and Costco. Smith’s is a favorite grocery store in Las Vegas, which is a Kroger brand store, and offers a great selection of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Specialty food stores like Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts are near us as well. Storage West on Eastern Ave is right in between several large neighborhoods; Paradise Valley, Green Valley South, and Silverado Ranch. National landmarks like Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam are iconic places to see and play tourist. The Dam offers tours inside to show the inner workings of how it was made and what it does for the city of Las Vegas and the surrounding states.
For those looking to get out and enjoy the outdoors, Red Rock Canyon and Mount Charleston offer hiking, picnic areas, camping sites, scenic views and each have some of the best landscape and views you will ever see. We also have professional sports teams becoming a major part of our city; professional hockey is already here, with professional football coming soon; not to mention the minor league soccer and baseball teams that call Las Vegas home.

McCarran Airport is located in a centralized area of Las Vegas, on Las Vegas Boulevard between Tropicana Ave and Sunset Rd. Whether you are here visiting or live here, no matter where you are in the valley you will see a constant flow of planes landing and taking off from our airport. Thousands of people a day are coming in or taking off from through McCarran; which is an international airport. This means you can see planes of every type and size coming in and leaving on a daily basis.
Located on Sunset Rd, in between Las Vegas Boulevard and Eastern Ave, is a small parking area where you can sit and watch the planes land and take off. It is free to park there, and you will see every single plane take off and land directly in front of you only a few hundred yards away, with an awesome view of the Las Vegas Strip just behind the runways. Also, because McCarran is an international airport, the big jumbo jets land there; giving you the chance to see the regular size traveler planes as well as the big four engine jets as well.
