The 89149 area is the northwestern corner of Las Vegas. The best part about the 89148 area is that it is away from the casinos and the lights but also not too far away from the fun. The 89149 location offers residents, and visitors to the area, a choice of getting away from the popular parts of the city or having a night out on the strip.
East of 89149 is North Las Vegas, NV and the Nellis Air Force Base. To the west is the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. To the south is the rest of Las Vegas and Henderson, NV. This area is also less than an hour away from the Hoover Dam and Arizona border.
The College of Southern Nevada has a small campus nearby known as the Cheyenne Campus. The closest traditional college is University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). UNLV is south of 89081 in Paradise, NV.
Las Vegas has over 350 schools in the Clark County School District (CCSD). The CCSD is one of the largest public school districts in the country. The CCSDD is also considered one of the main employers for the 89149 area
Things to Do
The first activity that comes to mind is to go check out the Las Vegas strip, which is a great idea for residents and visitors alike. The strip alone has a lot of different activity options for families, kids, and adults. If you are into the history of the Vegas strip and where it all started check out Old Vegas in the downtown area.
There are also some fun museums around town that showcase the local history. Two noted museums are the Neon Museum or the Las Vegas Natural History Museum.
