You’ve got to be prepared to cope with market fluctuations and housing bubbles, and you must also be knowledgeable about the area where you operate. It’s not a career for the faint-hearted.  For those reasons, the idea of relocating to a new area to work in real estate can be a daunting one. It means starting from scratch. That’s why we’ve reviewed cities around the United States and chosen Scottsdale, Arizona as our best city for real estate jobs.

About Scottsdale

Scottsdale is a small city in Southern Arizona, located in Maricopa County near Phoenix. The population as of the 2010 census was 236,839. The climate is hot and dry, as you might expect for a city in the desert. Summers are very hot, with temperatures frequently soaring over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, while winters are mild. That makes Scottsdale a popular destination for so-called “snowbirds” – retirees who prefer to spend their winters in a warm climate.

As is the case with many cities in the west, it’s an environmentally conscious place in some ways. The city offers assistance to lower and middle-income families to make their homes energy efficient.

Schools and Culture in Scottsdale

The public schools in Scottsdale are well regarded. The city is served in part by the Scottsdale Unified School District and in part by the Paradise Valley Unified School District. All told there are 33 public schools in Scottsdale proper, as well as two high schools outside of the city limits that serve the city. Scottsdale also has a community college, Scottsdale Community College, a campus for the University of Phoenix, and is the home of the Scottsdale Culinary Institute. Arizona State University has a campus in nearby Tempe.

The city’s culture is diverse. With large Latino and Native American populations, there’s plenty to see and do, including educational opportunities for kids and adults.
