Grocery shopping is a necessary chore but for many of us, it’s a hassle. Whether you fight rush hour traffic and go shopping after work or dedicate part of your weekend to the task, you might find yourself wishing that someone would simply deliver groceries to your door.
That wish can become a reality to Las Vegas residents thanks to Amazon’s plan to allow customers to order from Whole Foods online.
Amazon and Whole Foods
You may know that the online retailer Amazon bought Whole Foods in August of 2017. At the time, Amazon announced some significant things that they planned to change, including:
- A reduction in Whole Foods’ notoriously high prices on popular items including avocados and tilapia
- Special discounts for Prime members, with the understanding that Prime membership would replace Whole Foods’ loyalty program
- The addition of Whole Foods’ private label products to Amazon Prime
- Amazon lockers in stores to allow customers to order online and pick up their order in the store
These changes showed that Amazon has a strong desire to entice Prime members to shop at Whole Foods as well as giving Whole Foods’ loyal customers an incentive to pay for a Prime membership.
How Will Grocery Delivery in Las Vegas Work?
Even if you have used a grocery delivery service before, there are some features that make Amazon’s new grocery delivery service in Las Vegas unique.
The first is that Amazon customers who have the company’s virtual assistant, Alexa, can ask her to order groceries for them. They can also ask her to check out the items. When she’s done, they can pay for their order using the company’s Prime Now app.
If you’re not familiar with Alexa, it’s a powerful virtual assistant that, paired with Amazon’s Echo speaker, can help you do everything from dimming your lights to placing an order for a week’s worth of groceries.
If you already own an Alexa and you’re a Prime member, you have everything you need to get started. You’ll simply follow these steps
- Activate Alexa by saying “Alexa”
- Tell Alexa which grocery items you want to buy
- Ask Alexa to check out
- Pay for your groceries using Prime Now
- Specify a delivery time
If you don’t have Alexa, you can simply place your order online from Amazon.
Grocery delivery is not available 24 hours a day. However, Amazon has set a wide delivery window so that you can coordinate your delivery with your work schedule. In Las Vegas, you can get your Whole Foods groceries delivered by Amazon between 8 AM and 10 PM.
Keep An Eye Out for Special Deals
There’s no question that the convenience factor for home grocery delivery is high, but that’s not the only thing that might make you decide to try Amazon’s grocery delivery service in Las Vegas.
As we mentioned earlier, Amazon regularly offers discounts and special deals to Prime members. They have an incentive to do so, of course. In 2017, they offered a turkey special and broke Whole Foods’ previous record for turkey sales. You can use the discounts to stock up on items you love or to try something new at a reduced price.
Home grocery delivery can save you time and help to reduce your stress. And if you’re already a Prime member, you have everything you need to place your first order.
